Problem

IRSP have been a long-time customer and have had their server upgraded in the past from SBS2003 to SBS2011 this now is becoming unfit to continue expanding the company.

The Sage software the rely on no longer supports SBS2011 and they can’t upgrade their proprietary software for the same reason. They rely on remote access and need a solid Wi-Fi network both on the factory floor for barcode scanners and in the offices.

Solution

A new server was specified with enough processing power and memory to run three virtual servers, one domain controller, one file server and a remote access server, also installed as virtual machines were two copies of Windows 10 to be accessed remotely when there were no spare desktop machines.

This spared the expense of a Terminal Server. All data and client shares were migrated to the file server along with their Sage data and proprietary software.

An enterprise class Wi-Fi system as installed with independent networks for the offices, factory floor and guests.

Outcome

IRSP now have a solid network base that is easily upgradable to match any future requirements. The Hyper-V virtual servers are now portable to new hardware should there be any problems.

Their Sage software data storage is now compatible with their servers for the foreseeable future and the proprietary software now has stable infrastructure.

The remote access server controls access from outside the network and allow for secure access.
